1st entry

My cross-cultural experience that I would like to endure is on Jamaican Culture. At the school that I go to, many of my friends and many of the people I associate myself with are in fact Caribbean or have a Caribbean background. I have always liked to be around them when they dance to reggae and soca music, and just the feel and atmosphere that they put out is interesting and has a liking to me. Last year when I came to this school, I really had know knowledge of the way this culture acted I was only briefly familiar with it through my sister who use to listen to reggae. But after coming to Wheaton College, I got a new sense and point of view. During this experience I plan to use the dancing as a representation of the Jamaican culture as a whole (part to whole). I will also study their language.
